ABOUT THE CHALLENGE
Every October, the community of Abbeyfeale comes together for one of Limerick's most inspiring charity events.
Once you cross the finish line, the celebrations move to Dromtrasna National School for hot food and refreshments for all. It's as much about catching up with friends and neighbours as it is about the run itself, and every route is fully stewarded from start to finish.
The Dromtrasna Challenge is more than just a run - it's a celebration of community spirit, determination, and giving back. Since 2014, we've welcomed thousands of participants from across Ireland to our scenic routes through the beautiful West Limerick countryside.
Starting and finishing at Dromtrasna National School, participants of all ages and abilities can take part in our chip-timed competitive runs or enjoy a leisurely walk with family and friends.
Supporting Our Community

YOUR 2026 MEDAL
A finisher medal rooted in local history
Inspired by St. Ita's Well
This year's medal takes its inspiration from St. Ita's Well in Dromtrasna North, known locally as Killeenagh Well or Tobermurry, steeped in tradition linking St. Ita and St. Brendan.
It felt right to tie the medal back to the history of the area - every finisher takes home a small piece of Dromtrasna's story.
